About Us
Located in southwest Iowa, Jenny's Dachshunds is a home-based breeder committed to quality and the joy of raising this wonderfully diverse and loving breed.

Our adult dachshunds are family pets who live in our home.  They are not kennel dogs.  Puppies are socialized daily with adults and children ages 5 to 10 years old.

We also have a special program for select adult dachshunds where they live the majority of their time with their own special family as a cherished pet, only spending time here with us when they are breeding, gestating or raising a litter....or spending a weekend in the show ring.  It is a win-win program for everyone involved!  Contact us if you are interested in becoming a "couch family" for one of these special dachshunds!

Our dachshunds participate in AKC show events including conformation and earthdog.  We encourage new puppy owners to check out some of the neat opportunities available to dachshunds through AKC and other organizations.  We have new owners that participate in all sorts of activities including (but not limited to) flyball, rally, agility, dock jumping,  and even weight pull with their dachshunds.

All of our puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract unless arrangements are made prior to the sale.  If limited AKC registration is requested, papers are mailed upon receipt of certificate of spay/neuter from a licensed veterinarian.  We do not knowingly sell to brokers, pet shops or irresponsible breeders/irresponsible owners.

AKC vs the Border Collie

Jenny's Dachshunds supports the efforts of traditional border collie breeders and enthusiasts  to refrain from breeding border collies to a conformation standard.  This wonderful breed was developed for their instinctual herding ability and to breed for looks diminishes the importance of the traits the border collie was initially developed for.

 Designer Dogs
Jenny's Dachshunds is a strong believer in maintaining the integrity of purebred dogs.  We do not condone or support the breeding of "designer dogs", although there is nothing wrong with crossbreds sold as such. My first dog was a crossbred and there has never been a more wonderful companion and friend.  Socks was one of a kind!  "Designer dogs" are not actual breeds and we believe marketing them as a breed with definable and reproducible characteristics is unethical.

We support the true development of a new breeds by ethical breeders...something that takes generations of selective breeding and years of dedication and hard work before a "breed" will produce predictable results.  Simply putting any two dogs of the two different breeds together time and time again is not furthering the development of a true breed.
This picture is from Jenny's first year in 4-H after a big win at the county fair dog obedience show.  Socks was a border collie/australian shepherd cross.  She is waiting now at the Rainbow Bridge
